About
I, Yonatan (Yoni) Segal, am an experienced poultry veterinarian and skilled communicator and educator with expertise in poultry health, production, vaccination and biosecurity for the prevention and control of poultry diseases, especially avian influenza in developing countries.
My years of on the ground experience, working as a poultry veterinarian and later as a technical manager in the Asian region advising farmers and poultry companies on diagnostic and management issues, vaccination programs and issues to do with biosecurity as well as troubleshooting gives me enormous credibility and authority when engaging with farmers, workers and managers in the poultry industry.
My publications and training programs are practical, helpful and evidence based and focus on fulfilling the needs of clients and improving outcomes. I regularly reply to technical questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.
I am able to enter a new environment, undertake an assessment of local needs and scope out and implement a realistic program of work that can provide useful and tangible results.
In my current position as project manager of the public private partnership project at the FAO I regularly coordinate and conduct workshops designed to improve dialogue and collaboration between the public and private sectors for the prevention, detection and control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
Having worked in challenging contexts I am experienced at moving comfortably between government, non government and private sectors and work effectively at all levels. I am cognizant and appreciative of the operational methods of non government organisations working in the sector and understand how to work cooperatively with government officials, having done so at the highest levels. Importantly, I have a track record of bringing people together to work cooperatively for a common purpose.
Specialties: Poultry health, biosecurity and production.
